riv was started by Jean, who lives on the Côte d’Azur, after one too many visits from friends asking the same thing: “we have four days — what should we actually do?” The answer is never a list of ten famous places. It’s a rhythm: which town to sleep in, what is worth the detour in May versus August, whether Èze and Saint-Tropez really fit in one day (they don’t).
riv turns that local knowledge into itineraries you can book immediately. Every stop is a real place, with realistic train and drive times between them, free cancellation on everything bookable, and ground transport only — trains, buses, boats, bikes and cars. No flights: you sort your arrival; riv plans everything after it.

How it pays for itself: when you book a stop through a partner link, the partner pays riv a small commission. You pay the partner directly, at their price. riv never holds your money.
Questions travellers ask
- Does riv book flights?
- No. riv plans everything on the ground: regional trains, buses, ferries, bikes and e-scooters, and rental cars where no train goes. You arrive on your own; riv takes over from the station or the airport door.
- Do I pay more when I book through riv?
- No. Booking links open the partner’s own page at the partner’s own price. riv earns a small commission from the partner when you book — never from you.
- Which region does riv know?
- Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur only: Nice, Cannes, Antibes, Èze, Menton, Saint-Tropez, Aix-en-Provence and the coastal back-country. One region, planned deeply, instead of the whole world planned thinly.
- Do I need an account?
- No. There is no signup anywhere on riv. Type your trip, read your plan, book what you like. An email address is asked only if you want the plan sent to you, and it is always optional.
- Who checks the plans?
- Instant plans are assembled from riv’s own curated local knowledge — real places, realistic drive and train times. Custom plans (48-hour delivery) are drafted by riv’s agents and reviewed by the founder, who lives on the coast, before they reach you.
- What if I need to cancel?
- Every bookable stop is filtered for free cancellation. Change your mind, cancel with the partner directly, at no cost.
